In Vladimer Alexi-Meskhishvili‘s various paintings, utopian cities hanging on a rock or on a mountain slope play a significant role.

Lana Ghoghoberidze, Alexi-Meskhishvili’s wife, recalls, that: “he was really painting all the time, in the studio, at home, at work, everywhere…  Once I asked him about one drawing, whether it was real or not? And Lado answered: ‘I could have built such a city’. It was true – he really painted mostly his desirable city, located as terraces in rocky, mountainous area.”
